Mrs. Gladiona Holyfield Payne, age 90, of Elkin, passed away.

Mrs. Gladiona Holyfield Payne, age 90, of Elkin, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born July 21, 1933, in Surry County, to the late John Holyfield and the late Eula Cave Holyfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard Martin Payne; her son, Michael Martin Payne; and her brother, RJ Holyfield and Son-In-Law, Steve Burton.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and son-in-law, Mildred Payne Burton and Audrey and Dennis Sink; grandchildren, Stacy Payne, Stephanie Reynolds (Irvin), Travis Sink (Sarah), and Todd Sink; great grandchildren, Kendall Marshall (Tanner), Dalton Reynolds (Olivia) and Parker Sink; her brother, Donnie Holyfield; two nieces and one nephew. Mrs. Payne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a member of Union Cross Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 12:00-1:30 PM at Union Cross Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in The Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church with Brother Allen Horton and Brother Tim Burton officiating. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Payne family.
